Project #6 statment

For this project we are to create a poster for the Des Monies Art Center that highlights the composition of a photography highlighting the architecture of the museum. This project is to make us think about artificial grids and creating our own rather than going with the traditional square grid, this project is highly intensive because it is designed around a real client as if we were doing this in the real world. I will initially start of with three photographs that I will find strong compositional elements, I can highlight when placing the words over top. This project also allows us to use limited color, one hue and multiple shades. i think that this project will be intense but also fun because it will mimic real life situations I might find my self in.

Project #5 Summary

Throughout this project I learned a lot of new skills especially on how to create a story board and how to carry out a story no matter how short the animation is.  Also learned a lot about a new program that I can use. This project was hard in the beginning because I had trouble coming up with a story board that represented me. It was also hard because the program required a lot of things you had to take into account to create a smooth animation. Though this project was hard it was also really fun and I learned a lot about a different part of the graphic design industry

Project #5 Statement

For this project I will create a 8-15 second long animation that represents me as a graphic designer. I will use an object that I created in a previous project,  I will is on making the animation feel complete and have a beginning, middle and end. this project may be difficult because I will be learning a new program but I want to have my work still have a finished quality to it.

Project Statement: Project # 4

For this project we had to create a series of photos that had a visible progression using shape, texture, line or value. For this project I will be looking at the relationship between photos and creating a strong line and value shifts through out the photos. I will first focus on small pairings that then will be placed together to form a cohesive whole.

Project #3

For this project we needed to take one of the black and white form studies we did from Project #1 and use it to create repeating patterns. To do this we took one of the studies and reversed the colors, now we had two forms that were identical except for color that we could wok with.

These first few patterns are just very simple repetitions where the studies are all facing the same way or only rotated 90 degrees.

For this next set I went a little farther and started to overlap and off set the shapes as well as experiment with the rotation to create more interesting and complex patterns.

For this last set I took a look back at my previously created patters to find shapes that had been created and were visually appealing to me. I took those shapes and started repeating them, the result was a mixture of complex patterns and,  simple patterns.

Project #2 Synopsis

For project #2 we had to create a set of three symbols that represented ourselfs as an artist and our work. For this project I had some difficulty with coming up with words that described my work and my self as an artist but once I found a few I was able to jump right in to the project. For my symbols I decided to go with an older time, look and feel. So I used more traditional typefaces in the symbols as well as emphasized some aspects that gave the set as a whole that feel.

For the type based symbol I went through a lot of fonts before I found one that I liked, the creating of this symbol, was threefold because I first found the orientation I likes then I found one side of the symbol before finally finding the symbol as a whole.

The pictograph symbol while having a good initial design really needed some refinement to create a visually pleasing symbol, there were many renditions and decisions that went in to deciding what type of hat the banana should be wearing, after which I needed to find a way to bring the banana to life and give it some movement on the page.

The abstract symbol did not need as much work from paper to computer, other than some minor changes in how  it sat on the page, for instance making sure that there was a good balance between the size of the individual components and the spacing between them. Over all I am really pleased with how my symbols turned out, an dhow they work as a cohesive whole that have similar elements but can stand on their own if the need to
